I sometimes tend to put a lot of pressure on myself when I step up to create...which isn't necessary and it wastes time and energy. It helps me to lean into being curious rather than expecting any usable outcome. I like the idea of my soul growing when I create. What a nice thought. Today, I'm cleaning my creative space and working Today, I'm cleaning my creative space and working on some things but I had to stop for a minute when I noticed a paper plate sitting on my work table that I used recently as a paint palette (I love a good distraction from cleaning 😅). Before I tossed it, it was begging me to use it to create a flower bouquet. So, I decided to go with it and ended up with a sweet little flower bouquet created in Procreate. This is a reminder to us all to notice what's around us and what we can use to create. 🩷 Happy Friday!

Today I'm painting scraps for a project I'm workin Today I'm painting scraps for a project I'm working on. (The next Procreate course). The door is open to my office because apparently summer is here and I like hearing the birds and cars driving down the road. This morning, I woke up in a funk. I made the mistake of consuming too much news. And, my daughter is a senior this year and that's hitting much too hard. How do babies turn into adults in 5 minutes?! I decided to do a reset before I carried on with too much of my day. I forced myself to write down 5 things that happened this week that were good. I felt better. I sat outside for a very long time with some paint, my art journal, and a cat lounging at my feet. I felt even better. I then thought about creativity as an act of rebellion in the face of so much bad news in the world. I refuse to give up my joy. I can hold both at once- heartache for those who are suffering and a space for finding joy and light in small moments. We keep trying, right? Putting one foot in front of the other. Taking it day by day. Trying to make a small difference when it feels like it would be easier to give up and give in. At least I have paints, paper, a few good ideas, and a place for them. I'm also grateful for the bridge between traditional art supplies and digital art in Procreate. It's my happy place. My place to work it out. And a place where I find color, beauty, texture, and watch it all hang out together. Okay, enough rambling. My paint is drying and I need to add another layer. 🩷
